Charlie Walker-Harris

Clarinet player and Instrumental Teacher

Sutton Coldfield, North Birmingham

Hi! I'm Charlie, the founder of Walker Harris Music!

I studied at the Royal Academy of Music, winning the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Prize there and graduating with First Class Honours. I am an active professional clarinet player, having played with orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

In 2021, at Birmingham City University, I gained Qualified Teacher Status and a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Learning as a secondary school teacher. I have taught in classrooms as well as one to one, and I love teaching a variety of instruments including the voice. I currently work for Entrust Music Service Staffordshire, providing clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar, singing and ukulele lessons. I have helped students reach ABRSM, Trinity and London College of Music grades with a 100% pass rate.

I am open to any preference in musical taste, and I focus on making each lesson as fun an experience as possible. I enjoy the process of working towards grades, however if you are not looking to enter grades and simply want to learn the instrument I very much welcome that too.

Singing Teacher & Vocal Coach

Hi! I’m Ellie- I’m a Vocal Coach, Sound Healer and Yoga Teacher (and recently Charlie’s wife!).

I originally trained as an actor, graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2016, and am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Voice Pedagogy with the Voice Study Centre, focussing my research on holistic voice practice and how yoga and sound healing can support professional performers. I share more of this work @theholisticvoice

I’ve worked extensively with young people for the past several years for numerous organisations including Youth Theatres, Music Services and Theatres. I have supported students through their LCM Music Theatre exams, preparation of repertoire for Drama School Auditions and rehearsals for shows. I have also worked extensively in schools teaching singing and drama both to whole classes and 1:1 students.

I teach Singing/ Voice privately as well as holding Yoga Classes and Sound Baths across Birmingham and the surrounding areas. I also freelance at Performers College as an Associate Lecturer of Voice and work in the Education Team at Birmingham Hippodrome.

For Walker Harris Music, I am specialising in:

Musical Theatre Singing

London College of Music (LCM) Music Theatre exams

Drama School Audition preparation (songs and speeches)

I hold an enhanced DBS and am fully insured.
